You feel free enough to make your preference that she wear it only for you, known to her and leave it to her whether to honor it.

Also ideally:

She evaluates what it means to her to wear the dress only for you. She decides. You respect her decision.

Your preference by itself is not wrong. Stating it to her is also not wrong. But, insisting on it to the extent of fight is not right.
