In laws coming over

Hi friends,

Please help me with your unbiased input on this small problem I am facing.

My husband and I stay in US. Whenever any of my ILs come into US, they want to stay the night at our place. They say they have hotel booking but still want to spend the night at our place. They are visiting US for a few days, and are staying about 1.5 hour distance from us.

They are calling us to visit them on their US tour, instead of coming to our home for some time. Yet, they want to stay the night at our place. They have not told us of their travel plans yet. We will have to visit them at their chosen time and place. My husband will also leave for work the next morning. So, I see no point in their coming at night when all of us are tired from participating in their US tour during the day.

I find it a little inconsiderate of them to not give up their travel plans for one day and come to visit us at their house. They are assuming I will take care of them at home when they are tired and both me and husband are tired, at night, as well as during the next day. It is also an invasion of privacy for me as I awe live in a small 1 BHK. I do not know these ILs as I have not met them before. I have just returned from a recent trip abroad, and still tired. My house is a mess as all stuff is in suitcases, and is yet to be unpacked. There are clothes that have piled up in my absence. I have to vacuum the house. My balcony has also become dirty. With all this stuff, I do not want anyone staying the night in my home now.

My husband knows all this but he still insists that they are coming for one day only. But this has happened before with another set of ILs. I am uncomfortable with putting up ILs at my place who come only to enjoy the care and comfort that I will have to provide, and do not care for our routines.

Am I wrong?
