DH told me this during a random call during the weekend.....and where do I vent best? Of course here at IL!!
So...this happened yesterday..
SIL's DD is 13 months old now...SIL and baby come over to my ILs home to spend time with my DH who goes there every weekend.
So this is the scene that took place:
Baby crawls about and goes near my husband sitting on the Sofa, gesturing him to lift her up. He ignores as he is busy on phone.
She spots FIL standing facing the TV at other end of the room. (He is hearing impaired)
In all her exuberance she crawls around and reaches my FIL. Clasps his dhoti with her lil hands and stands with all efforts and gestures him to lift her up.
FIL with disgusted and shocked expression looks at the baby and makes a big bad face and fuss that she is holding him.
Baby instantaneously reacts with a deeply humiliated utterly sad :( smilie on her face and she breaks down uncontrollably loud with voluminous tears flowing down.
WHAT IS THE BABY's FAULT??
That she touched my FIL.
WHY IS THAT A FAULT?
'Cauze her mother is still nursing and feeding the baby.
And as she is still fertile she was having her chums which resumed recently.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My blood boiled and I shouted at DH for being such a jerk even towards the innocent child...he said he immediately rushed to the baby and picked her up.
I asked if that is ok with him...as he also follows the Taboos.
He said...baby was in "new cloths". So that is an acceptable arrangement for him and his mother and SILs in-laws also...but his dad will not accept even that concept!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And then I heard this on the FM radio:
The dept of health and family welfare ad:
ll Beti bachao ll ll Beti Padao ll
Mahila aevam baalvikaas mantraalaydwara Jan hith mai jaari
I re-created is this way:
ll Beti bachao ll ll Beti padao ll
ll Periods aagaya toh Kone mai bitaao ll
GharKe buzurgo dwara "mann hith" mai jaari !!
So much for Women's Day!! Huh
