Finest Posts - May 2015 Winners

Dear All
When Cheeniya types something in colour, you all know by past experience that there is an important announcement in the offing like the Railways saying Howrah-Trichy express is running 782 minutes late! Such announcements tell people what to expect though the announcer may not know if he has spread joy with his announcement!

With the fiery Chennai sun making even the lush green vegetation into some kind of arid bush, I do not want to be beating about it because there is too much bush to beat these days! So let me come straight to the point. I am here to make the Winner Announcement for the month of May 2015. You will find two significant departures in the announcement this time. First is that all the winning posts are outside the purview of Good to Read Forum. Secondly I am about to announce two winners in the Finest Contribution Category and one under Finest Narration.

I have just returned after meeting my wife’s first cousin who has lost both her husband and daughter in an automobile accident. From almost a day long chat I had with her, I could see that none of the relatives or friends who had come to offer their condolences to her had any clue about what to tell her. Almost everyone hugged her and cried at her helplessness. They all left abruptly after that as there is a convention here that you do not take leave of a bereaved person! When I discussed with her the various ways of going ahead with her life, she was pleasantly surprised.

When I went through lakshmi’s Born Again, I was struck by the clarity of her thoughts about her future after fate had dealt her a severe blow. There was something absolutely heart warming about how she decided to look at her life.
I am happy to announce laksmi 13’s

Born Again

as the Winner in the Finest Narration Category. Thank you hrastro for nominating this awesome thread.

Do parents need a common ground of understanding if bringing up their children is their joint responsibility? The discussion that yellowmango has started on this vital subject has some very enthusiastic participation and a lot of thoughts have been expressed. Personally I never thought of so many angles until I read this post myself. Such healthy discussions are the very backbone of a successful married life.

I was also led into another extremely useful discussion on what parents need to be aware of in US Elementary Education started by Rihana. I am sure that the mothers of school going children in US will be grateful to Rihana for starting this discussion.
I have great pleasure in declaring yellowmango and Rihana as Joint Winners of the Finest Contribution for the month for their

Aligning on Parenting Philosophy.

and
U.S. Elementary education - what parents need to be aware of
respectively.

Thank you Radan and butterflyice for your nomination of these prize winning threads!
