The thought that was nagging me for a long time . We know the system of dowry prevails in India. So we say it is due to patriarchy. Now we would also have come across ladies who say the dowry and gifts given to them by their parents were less. But these same people will blame the dowry system during their daughter's marriage. But during their son's marriage they wont forget to demand. Why the double standard. If giving and recieving dowry is important then where is a woman's selfworth.
