congratulations Lucky you - if you want to do it the traditional way 1st step would be to talk to your mom and ask her the procedure how do you do it.

We are telugu and we do it one way and people from diff places do it differently. Make sure you have all the things you needed. If you dont have anything you can ask your mom to get it when coming from India.
Make a list of people you are going to invite
Decorate the Function hall/ house
Order food accordingly
Return gifts if you are planning to give any
