Bleeding from cyst burst or period?

Hi Ladies.. This is the first month I'm trying to conceive.9 days before my period was due, I had brown discharge once followed by pink discharge the next day and started to have bright red spotting a week before my expected period wd never experienced severe rectal pain for few hrs.spotting turned as bleeding the same day and has continued as moderate bleeding for 2 days without any pain.i used to have heavy periods wd a lot of abdominal cramping which is completely absent wd this bleeding.this doesn't feel like my period at all. I'm confused wd wats happening.

My doc says I may have ruptured a cyst and wants me to do a pregnancy test after a week.. She doesn't want to do any tests for now..But I'm Soo scared the moderate bleeding I had for 2 days was my period ! What do you guys think?any similar experience?
