SIL gave used dress for my baby

Hi all,

I had been away for a while, taking care of my 4-month old baby! I have an elder, 9-year old daughter too.

Yesterday, SIL had visited us (she isn't working, stays at US with her family and has two daughters (8 and 3 yr olds). She brought dresses for both my daughters. The elder one's dress had its tags on and was new. But, the dress she brought for my 4-month old baby, I was almost sure of having seen it somewhere. Also, it was a dress for 24-month old, and had loose threads around the neckline which happens after a dress has been used many times (I have not seen loose threads hanging from the neckline of new baby dresses).

Later in the evening, I went through some of the old photographs of SIl and family online and saw the same dress worn by her elder daughter a few years back. Also, the details on the small slip sewn on to the dress behind the neckline shows July 2010. I was quite shocked! I discussed this with my spouse, but, he says often in US they bring out dresses and other clothing for sale years later after they are made. He stays in the US now. However, I have never noticed dresses of 4-5 years back in any US store.

Could my feeling that it is a used dress be true? I was shocked, sad and angry that she brought something like that for an infant!
